This is an important announcement from Rich Hill. Due to the condition of residential and county roads, Rich Hill will use its 3rd AMI virtual day. We get a total of 5 AMI days. We have 2 regular snow days we already have to make up, most likely in April and May. We will provide notification once the final decision on makeup days has been made. Just like today, high school teachers will hold virtual classes and elementary teachers will be making personal contact with students. We appreciate your patience. The dangerous temperatures should be behind us and we are hoping the weekend sees most of the snow and ice melt away so we can have a normal week next week. 12 month employees and cooks will be at work and all 3 offices will be open for shortened hours tomorrow. Thank you.

Here are several important announcements for Rich Hill Students and Staff: Due to the extreme temperatures and road conditions, all staff are dismissed at 1pm today. Tomorrow will be a traditional snow day to be made up at a later time. This day is for all students, staff, and faculty. No one is to report to campus tomorrow. Due to the extreme temperatures, the building has been difficult to keep at a reasonable temperature, once we return to classes, please dress your kids warmly and bundled up for the bus ride to school. Again, there will be no one on campus Tuesday, February 16. This applies to all Rich Hill students and personnel. Thank you.

Due to poor road conditions and extreme temperatures, the district will not hold in person classes tomorrow. This will be an Alternative Methods of Instruction Day. Students with a school issued chromebook will login to their classes to meet with their teacher. Elementary students will work on Day 1 of the packets sent home by their teacher and teachers will be checking in with them on their progress via email or by phone. Students may email their teacher to get help. Thank you and have a great evening.

We have had two teachers and two students test positive. We’ve quarantined students from both the elementary and the high school due to COVID19. All close contacts have been made. The school will be entering Phase Orange in the morning. We appreciate your patience as we work with health officials to meet county guidelines so we can keep school open. After missing 3 months of school last spring, we are hopeful the 9 days we haven’t had students at school this year will be the only ones. I know these times are stressful for everyone everywhere. People on all sides of the issue are frustrated and angry. We have kids coming to school telling us they are depressed, isolated, and lonely. Our counselors are working hard to meet these kids' needs. Teachers are trying to connect with kids every way possible and make them feel at home, connected, and cared for. I am proud of both the children and the staff of Rich Hill R-IV School District standing strong this year. We know school is the best place for kids to be every day and we are doing everything we can to meet kids’ needs while staying in compliance with county, state, federal, and department of education requirements. We are doing our best with the things we can control and managing our best with the things out of our control. Thank you.

We have had almost all of our quarantines and positive cases return to school. We will be returning to PHASE YELLOW at this time. Please remember to check your kids for COVID symptoms every morning and don’t send them to school if you are in doubt. Thank you.
