Summer Timeline

Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Davis for an incredible 45 years in public education!

Mr. Paul Davis taught at Rich Hill High School from the fall of 1978 until his first retirement from the district in 2011 (minus one year in 1983). He returned to Rich Hill in the fall of 2024 to help fill a vacancy, and from the very beginning, it felt as though he had never left.

Mrs. Jan Davis may not have officially spent her entire teaching career at Rich Hill, but she has certainly been part of the Rich Hill family for many years, attending countless concerts and supporting students along the way. Mrs. Davis joined Rich Hill in the fall of 2023 and has been dearly loved throughout the past three school years.

Together, they have dedicated their lives to teaching music and inspiring generations of students. Their passion, commitment, and love for education have left a lasting impact not only on our school but also on the many students and families they have influenced over the past 45 years.

At State Music this spring, Mr. Davis shared, “I have taught most of these students’ parents.” He is absolutely right, and we are so grateful that our students have had the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by the Davis family.

Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Davis, for your years of service, dedication, and the countless memories you have created through music. Your impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Gretchen Wills on her retirement!

Ms. Wills is completing her 19th year teaching Secondary English Language Arts at Rich Hill High School. She followed the long tenure of Mrs. Rhonda Headley, who retired in 2007, and together they have been the only two educators to serve in this position since 1978. Ms. Wills has truly been a constant presence in the building and in the lives of her students.

For all 19 years, Ms. Wills has also served as Junior Class Sponsor, a role that requires tremendous dedication and commitment. She set high expectations for her freshmen students early on, helping prepare them for success while making their later high school years more enjoyable and rewarding.

Ms. Wills will be greatly missed by her students, colleagues, and the entire Rich Hill community. In retirement, she looks forward to traveling and spending time with family as she prepares to welcome her first grandchild later this month.

Congratulations to Ms. Wills on her retirement, and thank you for your years of dedication to Rich Hill High School!

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Tamera Ogburn on her retirement!

Mrs. Ogburn dedicated 26 years to education, with 25 of those years spent serving the students of Rich Hill Elementary. Throughout her career, she taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, as well as Title I. Her kindness, flexibility, and dedication to students made a lasting impact on countless children and families.

Mrs. Ogburn will be greatly missed by the staff, administration, and especially by her students. Mrs. Bridgewater shared this about Tammy: “Her willingness to teach in about every grade has been a blessing to our school. Another quality that comes to mind is her ability to inspire critical thinking in her students. She consistently uses engaging teaching strategies that challenge students to explain their thinking, support their ideas, and actively participate in their learning."

Congratulations to Mrs. Ogburn on her well-earned retirement! We wish her many wonderful adventures as she travels with her husband and enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren.
