Attention Parents, Students, and All Others Interested in the Rich Hill R-IV School District,

The decision to cancel school for the week was not an easy one. When school administrators decide whether to have school or not, we put the health and safety of our students and staff first. But there are times, like these, when we must think of the safety of all of our community’s residents. Having a concentrated location for a large group of people to exchange viruses seems socially irresponsible. We are doing our best to help “flatten the curve” in this unprecedented public health crisis.

THIS IS NOT A REGULAR SPRING BREAK! While we are out this week, we encourage our students and families to do their part in helping “flatten the curve” by following this guidance from the CDC. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/checklist-household-ready.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fcommunity%2Fhome%2Fchecklist-household-ready.html

Simple things include:

  • Frequent Handwashing
  • Avoiding Touching Your Face
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing Household Surfaces
  • Avoiding Crowded Spaces
  • Social Distancing
  • Staying Home if You Are Sick

One Final Note for our Students on “Social Distancing”

This is an opportunity for you to recharge and reset. Use this time wisely to make yourself a little better every day. Avoid gathering in groups. Here are some activities you might consider:

  • Reading
  • Exercising (go for a run, ride a bike, go fishing)
  • Playing in Your Yard
  • Pitching in to help your parents around the house, yard, or farm
  • Playing video games (Yes, you can do this)
  • Other self-improvement activities which recharge your spirit and don’t contribute to the spread of coronavirus

Have a Good Week,

--Mr. Oates
