AC Tournament Wrapped Up

Opening Round of the Appleton City Tournament

The Rich Hill Tigers and Lady Tigers took the court in opening round action of the Appleton City Tournament after weather delays only to see the remainder of the tournament canceled on Friday.

The girls met Chilhowee on Wednesday night and kept it close until the Indians outlasted the Lady Tigers in the fourth quarter to end the game with a final score of 46-35. Maysi Miller, Kayden Coonce, Trinity Burris, and Lanie Phelps all contributed to the digits on the scoreboard with Maysi playing her season best game. Maysi put up 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals. Coach Coonce said, “We were challenged by the height of the Chilhowee team…our rebounding skills need to improve.”

The boys met Miami in Round One with a strong showing from the opening tip-off. The boys took an early lead of 34 points keeping Miami scoreless until there was just over a minute left in the first quarter. Coach Morgan quickly subbed in his bench to give the JV more playing time than the starting five had in the game. Combined, the boys shot 61% from the floor with 26 steals, 24 assists, 4 players with doubles, and everyone on the team scoring to finish the Eagles 90-23.
