Archie Tournament

Archie vs Rich Hill

The Rich Hill Tigers travelled to Archie on Tuesday night to play in the first round of the 91st Archie Tournament. The Tigers came into the game with a season record of 6-9 and seeded 6th and the home team Archie Whirlwinds came into the games seeded 3rd.

The Whirlwinds came out fast in the first quarter applying pressure early to the Tigers. The Tigers got off to a slow start on both sides of the ball and found themselves in an early hole, trailing the host team by a score of 8-18 after just one quarter of play. In the second quarter the Tigers found more of a rhythm to the game and were able to outscore Archie 14-13 but still found themselves down by nine points at the half. The score at the break was Rich Hill 22 Archie 31. In the second half due to defensive breakdowns and cold offense the Tigers saw their deficits grow to double digits and after three quarters it was Rich Hill 33 Archie 52. The fourth quarters the Tigers were able to play Archie a more even game. The offense came to life by scoring 18 points but a lack of rebounding allowed Archie second chance points leading a final score of Rich Hill 51, Archie 72. The Tigers were out rebounded by 13 for the game. The Tigers record dropped to 6-10 for the season and they will play again on Thursday night in the consolation round at 6:30. Their opponents will be their Highway A rivals the Hume Hornets whom the Tigers defeated in a contest earlier in the year by one point at home. The game will be played in the gym at Archie.

Scoring for the Tigers in the Archie game was Clifton Bridgewater with 33, Magal Chol-Case 5,  Bryce Yohe and Adrien King with 4 each, Noah Smarr and Brayden Chandler 2 each and rounding out the scoring was Daylan Black with 1.
