Rich Hill vs. Sherwood

As has been the case for the 2019-2020 Rich Hill basketball season, weather again play a part in the game schedule for Friday night. Snow moved in early on Friday morning forcing the cancellation of school and a postponement of the game. The Athletic Directors from both schools got together to move the game to Saturday afternoon. Another change in the schedule, both junior varsity boys and girls games were cancelled leaving just two varsity contest. Another tidbit that most people don’t usually think about is also getting officials that are open for the rescheduled date. After more than several phone calls, officials were located and confirmed for the Saturday afternoon game, starting at two.

The Varsity boys took the floor for the last game of the afternoon as Rich Hill came into the game on a modest three game winning streak hoping to make it four. The Sherwood Marksmen came into the game on a brief two game losing skid for the contest. As the officials tossed up the opening tip the Tigers gain the first possession.  Setting their offense the Rich Hill team was unable to get their first shot to go down and with the Marksmen taking control of the ball the quarter started off rather sluggish for both teams. Offense was hard to come by and after one period the Tigers found themselves trailing 4-9.  In the second quarter the Tigers were able to get going a little better offensively but the Sherwood team also found their rhythm. At the half the Tigers were trailing the Marksmen, 15-28. The second half Rich Hill found the offense still struggling and Sherwood was able to increase their lead to 44-33. The four quarter could be considered the Tigers highlight of the day as their offense finally came to life and they were able to make several good runs at the Sherwood lead but were never able in the end to cut enough into the lead. The Tigers scored 22 points in the fourth quarter but the final score was the Sherwood Marksmen 67 the Rich Hill Tigers 45.

Scoring for the Tigers was Sage Bolser with 17, followed by Clifton Bridgewater 9, Adrien King 6, Magal Chol 5, Brady Querry 4, Daylon Walton and Bryce Yohe both chipped in 2 apiece. The Tiger’s record fell to 6-10 for the season. The next action for the Boys’ Varsity team will take place on Tuesday night at 5:30 at the Archie Tournament in the gym. Their opponent for the evening will be the Warsaw Wildcats. The Boys are seeded number five in the tournament.
