Here are several important announcements from the Rich Hill School District: Due to District basketball, the meet the board candidate night for tomorrow night has been cancelled. The Osage Valley Prop 2 presentation will begin at 6:30pm and will be streamed on the Power Up Rich Hill Facebook page if you cannot make it to the high school auditorium. The boys will be playing at Thomas Jefferson in Joplin tonight at 6pm and the girls will take on McAuley in Joplin Wednesday night at 6pm. You can stream the games on prepcast to cheer on your Tigers. Have a great evening.

Due to the condition of the back roads, partially covered highways, and completely covered town routes, Rich Hill will be out on Friday, February 19 for a traditional snow day that will be made up at a later time. A decision will be made by 11am in the morning for sports activities tomorrow afternoon and evening so please wait for an announcement from the school instead of contacting offices or school officials for more information. Only 12 month staff and office staff need to report to work tomorrow.

I'm sorry my message was confusing. I tried to share too much info. No School, AMI virtual day on Thursday, February 17. We do not know about Friday yet. Thank you.

This is an important announcement from Rich Hill. Due to the condition of residential and county roads, Rich Hill will use its 3rd AMI virtual day. We get a total of 5 AMI days. We have 2 regular snow days we already have to make up, most likely in April and May. We will provide notification once the final decision on makeup days has been made. Just like today, high school teachers will hold virtual classes and elementary teachers will be making personal contact with students. We appreciate your patience. The dangerous temperatures should be behind us and we are hoping the weekend sees most of the snow and ice melt away so we can have a normal week next week. 12 month employees and cooks will be at work and all 3 offices will be open for shortened hours tomorrow. Thank you.

There will be no school on Wednesday, February 17. This is an AMI virtual day. High school students will meet on their virtual schedule with their teachers for zoom. Elementary students will be contacted by their teachers for a check-in on their progress. Teachers will attempt to contact elementary students by phone. Thank you, stay warm and stay safe.

Here are several important announcements for Rich Hill Students and Staff:
Due to the extreme temperatures and road conditions, all staff are dismissed at 1pm today. Tomorrow will be a traditional snow day to be made up at a later time. This day is for all students, staff, and faculty. No one is to report to campus tomorrow. Due to the extreme temperatures, the building has been difficult to keep at a reasonable temperature, once we return to classes, please dress your kids warmly and bundled up for the bus ride to school. Again, there will be no one on campus Tuesday, February 16. This applies to all Rich Hill students and personnel. Thank you.

The Junior Class would like to thank everyone who supported the Silent Auction through donations and purchases we raised $1930 for JR-SR Prom.

Rich Hill WILL be in attendance on Wednesday, February 10. The Bates County Live website had several schools posted that had not canceled school for Wednesday and we were one of them. Please make plans to attend school on Wednesday, February 10 for seated, in-person instruction. Thank you and see you tomorrow.

Due to poor road conditions and extreme temperatures, the district will not hold in person classes tomorrow. This will be an Alternative Methods of Instruction Day. Students with a school issued chromebook will login to their classes to meet with their teacher. Elementary students will work on Day 1 of the packets sent home by their teacher and teachers will be checking in with them on their progress via email or by phone. Students may email their teacher to get help. Thank you and have a great evening.

Due to the freezing rain, low temperatures, and road conditions, Rich Hill is going to go ahead and cancel classes for today. Stay home, stay safe, and stay warm. Again, there are no classes for Rich Hill today. Thank you.

Due to the winter weather advisory extended through noon tomorrow and very cold temperatures expected, Rich Hill School District will conduct a 2 hour late start for 10am. All bus routes will be pushed back two hours from their normal time. Breakfast will still be served when student arrive at school. Please stay warm and safe in the morning. We will make further weather and cold related decisions during the course of the day Monday for the rest of the week.

JR/SR Prom will now take place at Faulkner Ranch on April 24.

We have had two teachers and two students test positive. We’ve quarantined students from both the elementary and the high school due to COVID19. All close contacts have been made. The school will be entering Phase Orange in the morning. We appreciate your patience as we work with health officials to meet county guidelines so we can keep school open. After missing 3 months of school last spring, we are hopeful the 9 days we haven’t had students at school this year will be the only ones. I know these times are stressful for everyone everywhere. People on all sides of the issue are frustrated and angry. We have kids coming to school telling us they are depressed, isolated, and lonely. Our counselors are working hard to meet these kids' needs. Teachers are trying to connect with kids every way possible and make them feel at home, connected, and cared for. I am proud of both the children and the staff of Rich Hill R-IV School District standing strong this year. We know school is the best place for kids to be every day and we are doing everything we can to meet kids’ needs while staying in compliance with county, state, federal, and department of education requirements. We are doing our best with the things we can control and managing our best with the things out of our control. Thank you.

Pennies for Patients starts tomorrow.
Crazy socks and flannel, and Team Thomas shirts or blue.

This is a friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday in honor of MLK Day! Enjoy the 3 day weekend and see you all Tuesday.

Play rehearsal after school until 4:15 or 4:30 ish.

This is Superintendent Kevin Goddard. We will be having school tomorrow starting in Phase Orange. Most of our quarantined staff and students are returning tomorrow. We will also have junior high boys and girls basketball at 5:30pm tonight. Tomorrow night, the 5-6 Christmas concert will be at 6pm and the 7-8 concert will be at 7pm. Only two guests are allowed per student. The auditorium will be disinfected between performances.

This is Superintendent Kevin Goddard with an important announcement from the Rich Hill School District. Please listen to the entire message as there are several important announcements. Due to both principals being ill with COVID symptoms and under quarantine, the district having several other employees in quarantine, and everyone having spent the holidays with family members from outside the area, we are going to go to PHASE RED for Monday and Tuesday. During that time, you need to work on the quarterly packets sent home by teachers. Middle and high school will follow your class schedule for google meet. Teachers will be available via email to assist students and can call you if you are needing help. Vo-Tech kids will still meet at the high school to go to Vo-Tech. There will be no meals served during these two days. At this time, the junior high game on Tuesday night is still scheduled. Please wear your mask and physically distance in the stands as much as possible. The Christmas program for grades 5-8 is still on for Wednesday night. Remember that each student is allowed 2 people to come watch the performance. We apologize for any inconvenience this change causes families. We will try to stay in PHASE RED as short a time as possible. When we return, we will be in PHASE ORANGE until further notice. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Due to close contact quarantines just issued by the health department, the junior high girls game for tonight has been cancelled. The junior high boys will play an A game at 5:30pm followed by 2 quarters of B team.

The High School has two staff members who have tested positive with COVID19. All close contacts have been notified. Currently the high school has 5 active COVID19 cases, 32 individuals quarantined, and the elementary doesn’t have any active cases and 4 students quarantined. Tomorrow is our last day this week. We are looking forward to the Thanksgiving Break. Please rest up, stay healthy, and if you have any symptoms, go get tested. We look forward to having everyone back healthy on November 30th.

The Rich Hill R-IV School District Board of Education has a Board Member Vacancy due to a resignation. The Board will fill the seat at the December 9th Board Meeting to serve the remainder of the term until it expires in April of 2021. District Residents interested in filling the seat must submit a letter to the board expressing reasons for interest in the position by 4pm on December 7, 2020 to Central Office, 703 N. 3rd.

The state is allowing schools to implement a mask-mandate that would let students and staff in quarantine come to school for classes. The following survey explains the details further, please respond. Data will be shared with the school board so they can make a final decision.

The high school just received notice of a high school student who tested positive for COVID19. The Football Awards Reception for tonight has been postponed. Administration is making phone calls to affected individuals. The health departments have been running behind so we do not know when official calls from the health department will occur. We appreciate your patience and understanding as the school attempts to comply with state, DESE, and Vernon and Bates County guidelines. Our goal is to keep kids in school as much as possible. While we haven’t had a large number of cases, close contact is keeping teachers out of the classrooms and we are having trouble getting enough substitute teachers. If we reach a point where we can’t find enough substitutes, we will begin by going virtual in grades 9-12. If necessary, we will send 6-8 virtual, and as a last resort we will go virtual preschool through 12th grade. Again, thank you for your patience. Our teachers and staff love your kids and while we know these changes are hard on families, we hope you understand these ups and downs are stressful on us too. Take care Tigers. Keep us and the all of the students of Rich Hill in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

Due to a continued increase in COVID19 cases, another HS student today as well as several individuals waiting on test results, the district is going to a modified Phase ORANGE effective immediately. The modifications are based on lessons learned during the first 2 months of school. MS/HS will be stretched to 4 lunch shifts so physical distancing can occur while kids eat. Elementary will still eat in their classrooms during ORANGE. The temperature checks at the door are being eliminated since they don't give an accurate reading when a student comes in from the cold. Teachers will look for physical symptoms and send to the nurse if a temperature check is necessary. This message will go out as an all-call this evening.

A student at the high school has tested positive for COVID19. All close-contacts have been notified by the school and will receive follow up calls from the health department.

It is with a sad and heavy heart I must inform you that our play cannot be performed this evening. Due to close contact COVID restrictions and students being quarantined we will not have the right cast and crew to put on tonight's show. I will let you know if postponing works.

7 pm Thursday rehearsal. Thank you!

P/T conferences are being held virtually or via phone call this Thurs, Oct 29, from 1pm to 7pm. Fri, Oct 30, there will be no school.
I have asked DESE to approve a temporary modification to our calendar for Nov 2 and 3. DESE agreed to the following changes to our calendar:
Nov 2 will become a distance learning day to give our custodial staff a chance to deep clean the building without children present. Teachers will be working from the school to make contact with your child and monitor their progress.
Nov 3 will also be a distance learning day due to the general election being held inside school facilities. With the public having access to the building, distance learning will ensure appropriate social distancing for your children. Again, Nov 2 and 3, Rich Hill will not be holding classes at the school. Both days will be state-approved distance learning days.
These 5.5 days with students out of the building will give the school a significant amount of social distancing time as a buffer against exposures. If your child develops any symptoms, please get them tested on Friday or Saturday to give time for results to come back before they return to school on Wednesday.
Vo-tech students will leave from the north parking lot at their usual time on Suzi’s bus on Monday and Tuesday.
All students will return to school on Nov 4 at 8am.
This week, your child’s teachers will be giving them directions on what they need to accomplish during these 2 days and how the teacher will communicate with them.

No play rehearsal tonight. Move it to Thursday. Be safe!

Brenda's bus is broke down. She has had to switch buses. Students will be late getting dropped off today, Friday, October 23rd.

RH RIV is returning to Phase YELLOW. Thank you everyone for your patience. We've been very cautious during recent uncertainty. We look forward to everyone returning this week!

Rich Hill High School has a positive COVID 19 case. We now have 3 active staff cases, 2 active high school cases, and zero active elementary cases of COVID19. Due to close contact, the health department has advised 32 total students to be in quarantine at this time. We love having your children in school and miss them when they aren’t here. We are all ready for the day when things can return to normal.

Bates County Health Services has just notified us that Rich Hill R-IV has had another staff member test positive for COVID. Close contacts have been notified. We are currently running 3 buses due to a shortage of drivers. The next 2 weeks may see some delays in pickup and dropoff times as we make adjustments. If you can transport your child, this would help out our transportation situation. Thank you!

The Rich Hill Elementary was contacted this morning by Bates County Health Services that we had a staff member test positive for COVID19. BCHS worked to identify close contacts. All required staff and parents have been contacted and students have been picked up and are on quarantine. Because of staff's dedication to using masks/shields and distancing, this number was kept at a minimum. Thank you for your continued support of the school district as we try to keep kids in school as much as possible.

All families have been contacted whose students must quarantine. We start Phase ORANGE tomorrow. The football game with Jasper has been canceled. Thank you everyone that helped us get this far into the year!

The Little Cheer performance for PreK - 5th grade will take place at halftime of the JH football game on Monday, October 12, instead of tomorrow. More details regarding arrival and game time will be posted later.

The Rich Hill High School has had a positive COVID19 case. Administration is making contact tracing phone calls to students who will have to quarantine. The Health Department will do follow up phone calls tomorrow to those families. We will send out another notice this evening letting everyone know once phone calls have been made. The school will move to Phase ORANGE starting tomorrow.

The school district has notified individuals who were close contacts. The staff member was also at the Book Fair from 5:45pm to 6:15pm on Thursday. We continue to disinfect all classrooms and hallways on a daily basis. Thank you.

COVID19 Scams! Local businesses beware! We've had a couple of local businesses contact us about someone trying to get them to donate to the school to provide masks, hand sanitizer, etc. This is a scam. The school doesn't contract with anyone to operate on our behalf for donations. Over the years I've been a superintendent, the only time I find out about these scams is when a business owner asks me where the items are that they donated money for. I always feel bad that they've given money for something the school never received. Athletics is especially vulnerable to this type of scam when someone says they are providing rally towels or tshirts or something of that sort and of course we never get them or even knew about it. If in doubt about a solicitation, get a business name, call back number, and call the school and verify if the request is legitimate. COVID19 has become a perfect time for scammers to grift communities out of money!

Thank you to everyone that ordered from Student Council. All orders have been delivered and there will be a second order. Please have those orders with payment by tomorrow. Thanks D Breckenridge dbrecken@richhill.k12.mo.us

There will be a 2nd STUCO order for homecoming spirit shirts. All orders will be due Tuesday September 29. Please send money with orders. Thanks D Breckenridge. Dbrecken@richhill.k12.mo.us

At Saturday’s JHVB tourney, a staff member from Adrian attended and tested positive today for COVID19. They wore their mask and sat in their section. Exposure risk is minimal.

WEMO Patrons,
Conference administrators have been involved in discussions regarding the upcoming WEMO junior high and high school volleyball tournaments for nearly two months. Concerns regarding both student and community safety have driven these conversations. After thoughtful consideration, it had been determined that placing athletes and spectators from 10 schools in a single indoor facility will raise the risk of a large-scale COVID-19 outbreak to an unacceptable level. Therefore, contingency plans will be utilized.
Options for multiple formats of play are being designed. Our goal is to play both tournaments using an alternate format that will reduce the number of individuals preset in any one facility. The junior high tournament will still be held on Saturday, October 10. The high school tournament has been rescheduled and will now be played on Saturday, October 24. Location information, format, and times will be released when details have been finalized.
Best Regards,
WEMO Conference Superintendents & Athletic/Activities Directors

Threasa Coonce's bus is running a little late. She is on her way now, so please be ready and keep watching for the bus. Thank you for your patience.

Dear Rich Hill Community,
Well, this wasn’t how I wanted to start out the school year, but my COVID test came back positive. After consultation with Bates County Health Officials and the school board, we have decided to postpone the start of school until Monday, August 31st. This gives individuals I was in close contact with time to develop symptoms or get tested if they need to. We will start school in Phase ORANGE and recommend(not require) that students wear masks in the building. Because most people aren’t in the building, we are attempting to work on Acellus online students from home, but there’s only so much we can do. Acellus students probably won’t start on August 31st. We will let you know as soon as we know how quickly they will be entered into the system.

This is an update from Superintendent Kevin Goddard. The board has decided to postpone the start of school until Wednesday. Athletic practices will continue as scheduled and coaches will be wearing masks. UCM dual credit classes will still begin tomorrow. The building will be open for faculty and staff who have things they would like to get done before students return on Wednesday. Thank you and stay safe.

This is Superintendent Kevin Goddard. On Friday, I woke up with a seasonal asthma attack which isn’t unusual for me in August. By the end of the day Friday, however, I felt like I had the flu. I was sick through the day Saturday and this morning. After discussing my symptoms with my primary care, I went to the Emergency Room where they decided to administer a test for COVID19 and a chest x-ray. My x-ray was clear but the COVID results will not be back until tomorrow or Tuesday. Even now, I feel much better than I have for the last two days. I have consulted with the Bates County Health Department and they have asked me to quarantine until my results come back. They do not consider my interaction with staff during training days as high risk. Out of an abundance of caution, I am directing all school staff to wear face shields or masks until my results come back. Custodial staff is disinfecting the building tonight. Just as we are asking parents to screen their kids for the symptoms listed on our district webpage, we are asking staff to watch themselves for possible symptoms. At this time, the health department advised the school to stay in Phase Yellow. We thank everyone for your patience. The board and I want everyone to be as informed as possible so you can make the best decisions for your child’s health. The rest of the staff hopes to see everyone at school tomorrow. I will give notification of my test results as soon as I have them.

The elementary and high school offices will be closed until 1:00 pm today as all staff have back to school meetings. If your child still needs to enroll for the fall semester, please come up this afternoon to pick up enrollment packets. The offices will be back open Tuesday-Friday. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please take a moment to read this joint statement from all WEMO schools. If questions arise, please contact Athletic/Activities Director Ashley Arwood at aarwood@richhill.k12.mo.us or 417-395-4191.

Little Caesar’s is here a ready for pick up

Dear Rich Hill R-4 Community,
The new Missouri School Improvement Program Standards, version 6 (MSIP6), have been approved. To get ahead of whatever evaluation the state will be doing of schools, I have developed a survey that bridges the standards from MSIP3 through MSIP6. I can compare the results to the last community survey that was conducted under MSIP4 in 2010 to see in what ways the school district has improved. This survey also gathers data for more than 15 school programs that can be used in their board evaluations over the next academic year.Thank you for your time and attention and I hope everyone is staying healthy and sane during this unusual time. I look forward to our coming years together.

Good afternoon Rich Hill families,
School, in its usual form, is cancelled at Rich Hill R-IV through April 3rd. This decision does not come lightly. We understand the challenges this places on families, but for the safety of all in our community, we feel it is in the best interest to keep students home.
Meal delivery to every student who requests it is still available to all. If you want your children to be included in this service, please email or call the elementary or high school office. If you are already signed up for meals, no further action is needed. You will continue to receive meals until school resumes or you tell us to stop delivery.
All students can expect a phone call from a teacher over the next few days.
Our staff members are working together so that we can plan instructional activities for your students soon. For those with internet access, these will be delivered electronically. For those without internet access, we are problem-solving the logistics of delivering materials on paper. This is a new system for all of us, so we ask for patience with one another in this process.
The Rich Hill R-IV School District’s mission is to empower lifelong learners. Together, the staff, the board of education, the parents, and the students will rise to this occasion and fulfill this mission. We will continue our open lines of communication. We will continue to work together to provide an education to our students. And we will continue to care for one another.
Thank you. Best wishes to you all!

Notice from American Broadband:

Attention All Rich Hill R-IV Parents and Guardians,
Our goal at Rich Hill R-IV is to provide alternative education services to ALL of our students in the near future.
