NWS Wind Chill Chart

The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for much of the greater Kansas City Area. This has many schools, especially to the north, considering a 2-hour late start on the morning of Wednesday January 30, 2019. At this time, we are planning on having a regular length school day at Rich Hill R-IV.

The most likely point forecast for Rich Hill at 7 AM has us at 2 degrees with 7 mph winds, which is well out of the danger zone for any frostbite. Even the worst-case scenarios put the situation just on the edge of the 30-minute frostbite time window.

Please plan on sending your children out to catch the bus with appropriate clothing for the cold weather. Our students are hearty, intelligent and resilient. If your child needs winter clothing, please contact us and we will make an effort to secure these items as soon as possible.

If the situation changes for any reason, we will inform parents, students, and staff immediately.
